This bauble has been wheel-thrown out of porcelain clay. It has been entirely carved by hand, slowly, one mark at a time. It is not glazed and is fired only once, which makes the making process very energy efficient.
 
The unglazed clay remains a little bit porous, which means that when you'll drop your favourite essential oil or blend on the bauble or inside through the little hole at the bottom, the clay will absorb it and then slowly release the scent into the air over time. The essentail oil will darken the clay for 5-10 min but the stain will disappear as soon as the oil has been fully absorbed.
 
The scent will fade after a while, meaning the bauble needs a top up regularly but this is a very gentle eco friendly way to scent your air without burning anything, so no nasty chemicals are released into the atmosphere.
