A wheel-thrown bowl or deep plate with a delicately fluted wide rim.

Shaped after the Kikugata flower, or chrysanthemum, a national symbol in Japan, where they represent longevity, rejuvenation and nobility.

Wheelthrown in a light stoneware clay, decorated with hakeme brushwork, and glazed with a homemade wood-ash glaze and highlights of iron wash on the rim.

The wood-ash glaze is creamy in colour overall, with grey highlights and a slight lovely blush pink hue at the bottom of the bowl.

The foot is turned and the lower part of the bowl has an exposed shattering effect showing.

A statement piece to put on your table or to use for an ikebana flower arrangement.
