This is a wheel-thrown stoneware footed "saucer" bowl crafted from buff clay, featuring a traditional Japanese 'Hakeme' design, where a white slip has been applied using a handmade brush.
Can be used on its own as a trinket or condiment bowl, or as a saucer for the Yunomi or Katakuchi tea bowls.
Inspired by traditional Japanese pottery craftmanship and organic patterns found in nature, this piece was lovingly handmade in my garden studio in London. It was fired at a temperature of 1220ºC, using a wood-ash glaze recipe developped in my studio, ensuring both durability and uniqueness.
